This is a shame to see. I haven’t watched Jay recently because I feel like his content has kind of gone the Linus route of being more entertainment focused vs a channel like GN where they have very strict and regimented testing methodology. Even as entertainment though, I think this needelessly smears Bazzite. His experience is valid, but the conclusion being “the OS’s fault” or “Linux not being there yet” is kinda harmful. Yes, kernal level anti-cheat is a huge problem. But as a lifelong Windows user who myself converted last year and has not had to go back because all the games I want to play work, my experience has been that my games run better through Proton than they do natively on Windows. I hope there’s a followup at some point soon where he tries again with a fresh install on its own drive. Even if the reporting isn’t scientific (it doesn’t have to be), I would expect his experience to be better.

My tip would be to make good use of ProtonUp-QT that should have come with Bazzite by default. Use it to get Proton GE which in my experience has been the best compatibility layer for Steam games. You can also batch update with that tool so that when a new version of GE comes out, you can set games en masse to the new version.
2000, just after dial-up was phased out in my area and broadband was the hot new thing. These were the Windows XP days, and I was a kid, so most of my early memories of the internet were websites where I could play Flash games, like Neopets, Newgrounds, AddictingGames, etc. Maybe it was just because I was a kid, or because it was new to me, or maybe I’m just blinded my nostalgia, but the internet felt much more novel then, and you could spend hours jumping from site to site. It was more interesting to explore. Now it really feels like I cycle around the same 5 sites. Oh also - Googling something worked and was useful back then. Way different than trying to Google something today.

I never bother to turn these options on if a game offers them because in the best case it doesn’t do a whole lot and in the worst case it makes the game look awful. I’d rather just play with real frames even if it means playing at a lower frame rate.
Denuvo strikes again. I’ve been enjoying a lot of the Sega releases on PC but Denuvo is present in almost every single one of them. It actually locked me out of Lost Judgement once because I was troubleshooting something and tried using different versions of Proton to diagnose the issue.
