My 2nd build ever and first time building on my own. I was happier than a pig in mud when it power on and posted on the first attempt.

My build (nothing fancy, just for some 1080p gaming):

  • AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
  • 32 GB G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5
  • ASRock AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT
  • Gigabyte B650 X AV V2 Motherboard
  • CoolMaster Master Liquid 240L Core ARGB
  • Cosair RM850e Power Supply (850W, Gold)
  • Cosair 3500X Mid Tower Case
  • 2TB PNY XLR8 NVMe Gen4 M.2 Drive*

*Edited: Forgot to add the storage.

Thats partially why I went with an all AMD build. I plan on installing Linux on a separate drive in the near future. I only plan on keeping Windows for the few online games that dont enable Linux support

My new PC only has Linux and I’m currently flying on maximum settings in Rocket League, God of War, Horizon: Forbidden West, 1440p, 240 Hz monitor.

I am only keeping Windows around because I have some Rocket League montage clips there I want to keep. Otherwise Windows would not be on my new PC. I just have yet to move that drive over to the new PC.

I also have an all-AMD build. 9950X3D + RX 9070 XT. It just flies. Please look forward to gaming exclusively on Linux! ❤️🎮🐧

The only other cards in the price range of the 9060 XT were 8gb 3060s! It made the choice really easy for me - plus I wanted an all AMD build.

I have never ran Bazzite. My last build ran Ubuntu (started with 18.04 LTS) and my laptop runs Fedora workstation.

Very cool build! That is such a cool case. If I built with it, it would be so covered with fingerprints though haha

I wore nitrile gloves the entire time i was building and setting it up, but that was mainly because i have overly sweaty hands.

It also helped all of the glass had a protective film too.

Yknow, now i feel weird for not doing this. I already have the gloves too (i use them for cooking, constant handwashing destroys my hands and i like hot peppers)!

Ill definitely do so from here out! Need to work on my server and i just got a new (used) laptop i wanna dismantle and do some upgrades on at some point (primary ram slots are not accessible without pulling the whole board, as well as 1 of the 3 M.2 slots).

Oh ya the gloves will be nice when doing a teardown.

It’s nice not having to worry about getting grease or oil on the various connectors!

Speaking of thermal paste! I actually forgot to purchase some thermal paste, but Cool Master included a nice syringe of thermal paste in the box of the 240L.

I also bought the Challenger 9060 XT recently. It’s really good, surprisingly quiet too compared to my previous GPU that would scream at 2500 rpm.

How much did this run you OP? I have pretty much the same setup but 3 gens ago

    5600xt

    Ryzen 5 3600

    32g ram

    B450 mboard

Cost me ~1000 USD at the time

This build cost me just shy of $1300 at Micro Center. You could find parts for cheaper elsewhere and change the storage, cooling, and case for more savings

Is Micro Center not as competitive as it used to be? I have one near me and I’ve always liked it but with the build I’m considering it seems like almost every part is cheaper on Amazon

Okay i just tested playing Halo Infinite at 1080p on ultra settings with the frame limit at 100 fps (monitor max refresh i know weird). The temps stayed around 65° - 70° C while i played. No stuttering, no lag, just pure buttery smoothness

That would be Cosair. I love their cases! My first build was an itx build (or mini-atx) and it was a little cube.

I am using a Cosair PSU as well since I couldnt get EVGA.

I think Corsair('s RMx OEM) makes one of the best PSUs on the market.

EVGA used SuperFlower for the G2 series and those were tanks — SuperFlower itself is selling some Leadex VII models directly to consumers now too, also a good option.

Idk man. The PC community is full of shills and assholes if you ask me. Most uptight ego bitches I’ve ever seen with a constant “one up” mentality. It used to be cool back in the 90s and early 2000s when PC builds were about looks and now it’s just “oh you can’t afford a 5090 you must be broke, go back to console you piece of shit”

Yeah lol… Super fun community for sure b

We’re okay here I think. At least better. The less pessimistic and cynical we are, the easier it will be to achieve, at least! ❤️😊 Reddit was cancer in so many ways, not just in “subreddit X, Y, Z”.
