No, it’s an express tilt to the right.

Never forget that one of the architects of the Brooks Brothers riot, the the stolen 2000 Florida election, Joel Kaplan, is in charge of Meta’s global policies.

Dude worked for G.W. Bush, and helped give us Kavanaugh on the supreme court.

Seems like a great reason for leaving these broligarch platforms. How long until whatsapp gets compromised too?

nycjournals.com seems to be an influence operation. The domain is a month old and the about section contains nothing that actually tells you anything about what’s behind the site.

edit: That means this is likely a false story unless corroborated by another source.

The suspension, which lasted approximately 3 hours before his account was reinstated, was explained by Instagram senior directors in an internal leaked memo that his content was deemed “too socialist,” and goes against current national US interest.

geezus, yeah that’s the que that everyone should be getting off corporate run social media.

I understood the debate when trump was “When the looting starts the shooting starts”, and they had generalized rules saying no calls for violence.

Do I dare ask where in facebooks terms of services they have a “don’t be too socialist”, and "must line up with “current national US interest”.

For a social network to be actually treated serious, it should enforce the rules even handed, and make the rules clear.

I’m not even a socialist per se and why the fuck should I care if someone posts socialist stuff? People post shit I don’t care about or agree with all the time. Sounds like they are afraid of the message.

Right now the most convincing argument for socialism is how much they try to suppress it and how they call everything good in the government socialism.

Oligarchs love to substitute “America” for themselves in their propaganda. And the dummies mostly buy it.

Another classic from Trump is “vote for me or you won’t have a country anymore” really translates to “vote for me or I won’t have my freedom anymore”.

That story doesn’t make sense. If socialism is the reason his account went down then why is it back up? Did Mamdani renounce socialism today?

And it is pretty much guaranteed to be bullshit. If they shut a politician out due to social democratic opinions, they would be shooting themselves in the foot. So many users would leave the platform. That isn’t in Metas interest.

If they want to control the narrative they have to keep people on the site, and they could just show the content that they don’t like to fewer of the users.

Meta, Instagram, etc. is a private company, and can make decisions like that. It’s their right, and I understand it.

It would be hyperbole to claim such censorship violates freefree-speech, but when The sided reason for censorship is “national interest“ it certainly comes close.
