You are getting downvoted not because you’re using it in a different way but because you’re using it in a way only has downsides. It’s fine in a chatroom but kind of annoying on a service like this.
It goes against internet norms that have existed since the beginning - and for good reason. Your one thought takes up 90% more screen real estate when you reply to yourself instead of putting it all in the first comment comment.
I mean no disrespect, I just want to clarify why it’s looked down upon.
Contributing to stupid fucking thread derailments about inconsequential points of netiquette as we have both done here is of course another fine tradition that has been around since the early days of the net. But you know, it’s not like there was a hell of a lot of other discussion happening on this occasion. The original topic deserves a thousand times more attention than it gets.
