I was a gifted kid and I am definitely not a disappointment… Instead, I’ve just gotten a little sadder each time I have been promoted only to realize how low “the bar” actually is.
“The bar” isn’t only there to filter based on intelligence, it’s also more importantly there to filter out the people who might have any moral or ethical problems doing what is required of them; but it can be difficult to see this if you’re focusing on the whole treadmill you’re on.
