Next LinusMediaGroup video is titled “I’m turning my company into a worker-owned cooperative”, and the thumbnail is Linus standing in front of a red star on a black background. In the intro of the video, he says this:

You know the cliché: socialism doesn’t work. Everyone is telling you it’ll lead to starvation, because of the holodomor. But after I did the bare minimum of actual research that did not involve any far-right think-tanks, it turns out the holodomor was caused by the Ukrainians not wanting to suck it up to Stalin, and then Stalin doing a bit of a revenge, instead of “planned economy” and a lack of “infinite growth”. So I did even more research, it turns out, just like the right has its more quote mark “libertarian” counterpart, socialism, at least originally, was a very libertarian movement, it’s just the definition was changed by both Stalinist regimes, and those far-right think-tanks. He’s not American, so he might’ve had a different view on things. The view of many pro business not-quite-Americans is of this place as a land of promise and opportunity. It’s why so many immigrate in hoping them or their children can make a good life, when they’re really just convenient labor for the ruling class. Still a stale af take though.
