I don’t have anything that is pressing-pressing, but there’s definitely stuff I should be doing. Instead I am laying in bed like an invalid. Help
There’s this app on F-Droid called WikWok. It basically presents you with random wikipedia articles in a kind of feed like with TikTok.
If I were you, I’d download it and scroll until something that you find interesting appears and then read a bit of it. Then ask yourself a question.
This usually gets me up and pacing, and once I’m pacing I want to fidget with stuff so I go do chores.
May not work for you, but that’s what I got.
Once upon a time this happened to me when I had classes. I kept saying I’d get up for the next one and never did (in fact I basically stopped going to class for a week).
I really knew I should go and get out of bed but the more I thought about it, the harder it got.
Eventually, I got medicated, and while sometimes my body tries to stop me from taking my meds, it’s easier to overcome that than it is to get out of bed when executive dysfunction hits.
That’s why I keep my pills right next to my bed and typically I take them immediately when my alarm goes off.
I also set out a protein shake next to them every night so I can eat “breakfast” without having to wait for them to kick in.
Probably not the best solution for everyone, but if you want a suggestion, that’s mine.
Also remember that you’re not alone and while some people might not see the struggle, that doesn’t make it any less valid. Be kind to yourself
Been there. Consider your brain like a muscle and you need a rest day. Maybe your body is ok but your brain need to take it easy. Be kind to yourself. You got this.
Came yo say that, look like you got an “off” day. Do not worry “on” day will come once enough “off” days pass.
Thank you ❤️
You are not allowed to think what you want to do. Give yourself space and accept what you want to do and you will do it.
Sometimes it is OK to chill in bed. If you don’t want to do what you’re doing, maybe think about something small you can do, like maybe slide down to sit on the floor. Maybe by taking some small steps you’ll find yourself moving.
When I’m like that I take a looooong shower and start a load of laundry. Both things are theoretically productive so they make me feel better and might get me moving.
Take the shower before starting the laundry, or you will not have a great time.
Why though? You’re dirty, the clothes are dirty. Might as well start the wash so it’s going while you shower. Then when you get out you have the additional easy productive task of moving everything to the dryer, and then you have an hour or so before another semi-optional simple productive task.
I genuinely can’t think of why showering before starting the laundry would be better in any way.
Do you live in an apartment without in-unit washers? I live in a house and starting the laundry fucks with the shower’s water pressure and heat levels.
I guess my water heater is just big enough that I’ve never had an issue. That’s a valid reason.
Yeah, this was my reasoning haha. You’ll be taking an ice cold shower at my house if you did started the laundry first for sure
Older showers don’t have a pressure balancing valve which adjusts either the hot or cold flow to equalize a loss in pressure on the opposite side.
Without this, flushing a toilet robs the shower of cold water and so the user is scalded, or running a washing machine or dishwasher does the same with the hot supply.
Start counting to four over and over at a steady rhythm. For each number, move one joint in the direction of getting out of bed.
Creative, I will try to think about trying this method
I get this sometimes (also foe leaving the house). What you need is a stimulant. Coffee might do it if you can’t get meds.
This was after Vyvanse and coffee 😅 I was very focused on all the NYT games. Just couldn’t convince myself to be productive.
Good Night 🛌
🤔 have you considered get out of bed?
