My AC stopped working. It’s 1am and still 90°F inside my house. The only window that opens in this stupid house is next to the door, so I cant even take advantage of the colder nighttime temperatures and try to draft air through. And it’s only going to get hotter as the month progresses :/

Wow. The actual answer was easier than the word I thought of to eliminate letters. Totally made that harder than I need to lol

I know someone who cycles similarly to you once did, and he’s my physics prof who put random impact problems involving bikes into his course, so I can definitely imagine the forces at play in your crash.
I’m sorry that this has been your life since then. It’s inhuman that we’re all treated as numbers
Almonds@mander.xyzto Ask Me Anything@lemmy.ca•I'm a trans drummer with a naked cat who approves disability applications, AMA3·2 days agoHave you had an emg done? Sometimes we’re aware of something happening to our bodies before any test can really show it, and unfortunately sometimes that test is the emg.
That “push to the point of failure” is exactly how I’ve described my issues, and it really felt like it is a disorder in my muscles. And similarly my pain stops at rest. Turns out I have polyneuropathy, and I somehow acquired it before middle age, over the course of a few months, while perfectly healthy. It doesn’t make sense, but I think there’s a lot of new autoimmune and stress disorders that are cropping up that don’t make sense yet
My grandparents had a cat named Pussy. My grandma was so upset when I told her what that was slang for

I’m glad you don’t need to move every year anymore! It’s one of those normalized things that truly shouldn’t be. I mean, it’s not the avocado toast that’s keeping homeownership out of reach, it’s the constant moving/application/deposit/etc fees we face so often

I’m packing again right now, and it’s really nice to have the little inserts that kind of stabilize the consoles in their boxes

Rheumatoid arthritis can cause toes to curl into claws. There’s another autoimmune disorder that does this too, but I can’t remember which. Lupus maybe? Which would be fitting by name alone
Almonds@mander.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•My combat boots lasted 4-years. Is that reasonable given hard use?11·6 days agoI wear combat boots made for first responders (Haix). They are about 3-4 times the cost of yours, but they are made in Europe. Anyway, I’ve had my oldest pair for over six years, and I put at least 10 miles on them on a day. The only upkeep they’ve needed so far is some conditioner. I have a ton of boots, but these are by far my favorites
I’ve worn them in the Arizona desert during summer, and in winter where I live (gets to -30F and colder)
Banh mi is so good. There was a little Vietnamese cafe nextdoor to a place I used to work, I went there every workday. I saved so much money after I moved to a different location xD
I honestly love the solitude that harsh winters bring. And all the heavy clothing I get to wear, the much longer nights, going through my stockpile of canned and preserved goods. There have been winters where I was snowed in for weeks, and they were glorious
It’s true, the brain and body need extra care to prevent depression during winter, but I’m much more depressed during the long, blistering hot summer months

I’ve still not given in to making an account, but I’m starting to feel the struggle of not being able to contact small businesses.
So, I can imagine some of those users are multiples of the same person if they also have an account for their business
