Crabhands@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmy, what's the meaning, or point if you prefer, of life? I know 42, but I'm serious. Nothing lasts, everything is meaningless - are we just amusing ourselves until death?2·4 days agoI’m not spiritual, but I believe the universe as we know it was created by higher beings on a dimensional plane we can’t comprehend. They created us as a resource. Perhaps for simulations, or science, or entertainment. I believe we are the worker ants for these beings and our collective meaning is to produce intelligence. Maybe we are an AI hive mind? Or fuck it maybe were just here to watch ufc and drink beer.
EndeavorOS. It runs smooth, i dont get errors, all my games work, the taskbar and notifications work like I would expect them too. Switching from Windows 2 months ago, I cycled through a few distros but they all were giving something up until i found EoS.
I’m 2 months into my Linux journey and I don’t use flatpak. I’ve had the odd problem with it. I stick to pacman and yay now.

Nice! It feels so good when it works, like there’s actually hope of escaping windows. Now I’m past hoping and just enjoying it.
I have not tried Bazzite but have heard lots about it since. I am looking at converting my htpc/gaming rig over soon and Bazzite is top of the list for that!
Thinking on this more, the install was 100% easy. 2 problems i had were dracut was updated to v107 then rolled back by EoS. I had to look up the issue, realized it didnt affect me so i was able to ignore it. My second issue was last week pulseaudio had an update that messed up 5.1 sound so i did have to roll back there. All in all, nothing too difficult, and all good learning opportunities.
Yes I’m more tech-savvy, but I’m less patient to read/understand things, i will usually chatgpt something these days, then keep my own personal documentation for anything i may need in the future.
I could have definitely jumped straight in, but I think I would always wonder if other distros were ‘more’ right for me. So yeah, i think trying the other ones helped me be content here.
That being said, I’m a little more experienced now and could likely navigate around some of the things i didnt like about the other distros.
I think I’ve done the opposite of most. After using keepassx for the last 4 or 5 years I switched to ProtonPass.
I value security and privacy but Ive realized some of my processes have become too complex, like using syncthing to keep my keepass on my phone and PC aligned. I’m not confident that older man version of me will be able to keep up so Ive stared valuing simplicity.
Im sure many will argue that it is simple but between backups and keys and passwords it really is a lot, especially with a new device each time.
