Absolutely right. It shouldn’t collaborate with any for-profit entity, or non-profit entity captured by for-profit entities. Everything should be about maintaining the base engine at compatibility to open standards, and pushing everything else to either the community or volunteers in the non-profit.
Oh, I agree. We’re past the point of no return now. Our only hope lies in Ladybird. I’m holding out hope for that engine, though only slightly.
it should be “We need to focus on the browser” -> lays off employees and pushes feature requests to the open-sorce volunteer community to fill as they see fit.
Firefox should only exist to be a standards-compliant browser (not part of the Google ecosystem). It should not be using Google WebExtensions or a Google manifest. Anything beyond the bare minimum of compliance with the W3C’s published standard should be a community made addon or plugin.

I can’t bring overwhelming force that would allow me to tell them anything.

Best place to be when there’s cops out there and a crowd of people determined to be where the cops tell them not to be. I’m not disagreeing with you, and frankly I don’t see it as an insult. I’m not where the police are, and I encourage everyone else to take steps to be where the police aren’t.
I’m good with that solution!

My feeling has been and continues to be that if people with guns tell you not to be in a place, you should not be in that place

Sure, but it had T’Pol and the original Johnny Rico, so, I couldn’t hate it. I’d have been happier if Jeri had been dragged in, but Jolene did good.
ETA: Also, it’s a #2 in a Verhoeven-sparked trilogy. Detroit, Klendathu… same difference. Just pass me the jetpack and stand back.

Either buy the DVD or pirate the movie. Myself, I have all of the movies and the show on disc.
I’m not from Buenos Aires, but I say kill 'em all!

I bet there’s days or games when Fischer couldn’t have beaten it. Just because a thing is old and less capable than the modern world does not mean it’s bad.

That’s a huge problem, and monopolistic. I’m opposed to the centralization on its own, I’m even more opposed to it being controlled by a corporate entity.

And I would assume so, since I’m not a YouTuber.
Endymion_Mallorn@kbin.melroy.orgto Games@lemmy.world•GOG One-Click Mods | New era of modding begins223·3 days agoOh hell no. Valve are evil, like any other corporate monstrosity. It’s not that I want GOG to “stay in their lane” as a bad thing. I want them to stay away from the morasse of crap that other sites like them have become. There are game modding communities all over the Internet, we don’t need an abandonware site that put on airs to become part of the “modern marketplace”.
I want GOG to getback to what it was before CDPR.
Endymion_Mallorn@kbin.melroy.orgto Firefox@lemmy.world•Mozilla's AI extension Orbit to shut down on June 26, 20251·3 days agoIt’s not “in case”. The court ruling has been pretty clear that Google can’t fund them anymore. That doesn’t matter to Google, because they own the W3C & the Linux Foundation now. The antitrust came too late and it’s taking too long.
Google needs to be broken up, yesterday. Their overwhelming grip on the Internet needs to broken hard.
And then we need to shut Cloudflare down.
Keep your bat’leth on the ice.
