Anti-social socialists are an absolutely fascinating internet phenomenon. I have met a handful in real life, but they’re more tolerated for their merits than any kind of influential when it comes to face to face dialogue and praxis.

Kwakigra@beehaw.orgto U.S. News@beehaw.org•Fertility Rate in the U.S. Reached an All-Time Low in 2024, CDC Data Reveals4·4 days agoSince the US regards children essentially as exotic pets owned by their parents who are individually responsible for every aspect of their well being, most reasonable people understand they can’t afford the time, energy, and money to keep a pet like that. Importing and raising a tiger cub is less resource demanding.
Children are young human members of society and should be treated like it rather than be considered the property of their parents.
This appears to be stupid, and it is, but it’s mostly evil. Teaching children to accept absurdities and distrust evidence to make them easier to control.

On something like this I would just think about whether the cost justifies the amount of pleasure it would bring me. If I know I would get tired of it after a few weeks, I’m not going to blow thousands on it. If it’s a major enhancement of a hobby I’ve had for a long time which deepens my ability to enjoy it and I’m not risking anything else by spending the money, then it’s a decent investment in my happiness.
Smarter and faster, but the same fuel tank and no brakes.
Kwakigra@beehaw.orgto AskBeehaw@beehaw.org•What should be done with the unemployable people?7·1 month agoConsidering we have thousands of people who don’t work at all, live off letting financiers manipulate their ancestors’ assets, and go on Fox News to tell everyone that commoners’ value is related to making their assets more valuable, I don’t think that the work that most English speakers do helps anyone but the plutocrats or actually matters at all. No one is asking if they provide any value to society because our society is based on the propaganda they commissioned for their own profit. Your worth isn’t in serving these actual parasites and neither is anyone else’s. They’re the only people we need to be talking about doing something with because they are the cause of all your problems, not disabled people whose circumstances aren’t affecting you at all.
The term “tankie” was originally used by dissident Marxist–Leninists to describe members of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) who followed the party line of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). Specifically, it was used to distinguish party members who spoke out in defence of the Soviet use of tanks to suppress the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and the 1968 Prague Spring, or who more broadly adhered to pro-Soviet positions.
I’ve never understood why there is any confusion over the word “tankie.” It applies to the pro-cop left. If a leftist believes that it’s necessary for cops to beat minorities and dissidents into submission for their society to function, they’re tankies. If they approach leftism in a way that does not involve state violence against civilians to enforce those ideas, they’re not tankies. To me there isn’t a lot of gray area.

However, capitalists will also say that the evil of socialism is that you won’t be allowed to own property. That’s the most capitalist thing I’m aware of.
I guess Arkansas already having Bonanza, Harrison, Hickory Ridge, Horatio, Marked Tree, Mena, and Sheridan as hell-holes for white supremacists wasn’t enough. They need a new pit to crawl into, I guess.
