Warl0k3@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has anyone checked on the NRA recently? They seem to have been pretty quiet since the tyrannical government that they've been warning us about for decades came to pass. I wonder if they're ok?11·1 day agoIt wasn’t even big news here, so it wouldn’t have been hard to miss if you weren’t following specifically usa political outlets. We like to hide all the juiciest drama behind the most boring court proceedings, because we suck as a country.
or… something like that.

Plus you can’t let everyone get away with it, so just throw the most inept ones under the bus occasionally and chalk it up as an example of conservative self-regulation.

They just usually are lead by the hand to a way of thinking that lets them process the open hypocrisy of their leaders in a way that doesn’t feel hypocritical, and most of them completely lack the critical thinking skills to figure it out on their own (because defunding the educational system has been conservative action item #1 for decades and now they can reap the fruits of their labor…).
But the NRA shit with russia then the whole fraud scandal were impossible to spin. Seriously, that was such a bad look. Even the true born-red gun nuts I know lost any respect for the NRA when it all came out.
Warl0k3@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Meta Filed a Lawsuit Against The Entity Behind CrushAI Nudify App.English14·1 day agoIt (nudify) makes AI look bad and is the leading example people are using when proposing legislation to regulate AI. If they can end this prominent thing, not only do they look like they’re fighting for the users, but they help keep the gvmt from meddling with whatever henious shit they want to do with AI (by removing the best argument the pro-regulation groups have right now)
It’s not infrequent that people will just dismiss whatever these people are brining because it’s not worth it to deal with their infinite heaps of bullshit. Much less common in the court system, but it still does happen sometimes. Add to it that a lot of SovCits just lie, having been forced to pay the fine or w/e, then will go on facebook and claim it was their word soup that did it and “hey guys, I totally didn’t have to pay using this one weird trick! Give me social capital!” and so on, and you project a pretty tempting image of what the SovCit Secret Arts can do for you!
Lmfao dude thats propaganda, the marines are teenagers who’ve had “loyalty above everything” kicked into their heads since they joined up. At best they just stand around and don’t do anything, but take it from a former marine, that situation is unlikely.
You can still get usable assets from cad software - I used to be big into mods, and I’d usually start any object models by throwing it together in Inventor then porting it to blender for the texture/UV/rigging/etc part. It’s not super efficient, thats for sure, but if you think better in breps than polygons (like me) it was a good workaround for having to learn new skills…

Warl0k3@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•What's going on with Borderlands 2? Steam is giving it for free, but the game has 23% positive recent reviews.English3·7 days agoI don’t really know how else to phrase this, but I’ll give it a shot anyways: Anti-cheat isn’t intrinsically linked to root level permissions. It’s inclusion in a section about data sources compounds that concept. That is the claim that you are now making, and which isn’t supported by the section you’ve cited.
Warl0k3@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•What's going on with Borderlands 2? Steam is giving it for free, but the game has 23% positive recent reviews.English3·7 days agoIf that’s all it takes to dumbfound you, I am profoundly jealous. Anyways.
Those aren’t the claims fauxliving was making. They claim that there is no indication of taketwo requesting root level access and they’re strictly right, there is no language requesting that permission (or equivalents) (but I doubt that would matter to TakeTwo since they could argue it’s implicit)
They then claim that there has been no change to the game to include kernel level anticheat, which is also true.
What you presented does nothing to substantiate or refute those claims, just the claims made in the OP. Fauxliving’s comment was arguably off base, sure, but substantially their points are correct.
Warl0k3@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•What's going on with Borderlands 2? That they may use anti-cheat, and that they may have automatic updates, aren’t the claims in question here.

No, that guy in your story had it right. If this is representative of the culture you work in, I’d do the absolute bare minimum too. This is such blatant ‘hard work’ propaganda it’s actually kind of nauseating. Holy shit, take a step back and realize you’re helping your team get taken advantage of, and guilt-tripping them when they don’t comply with your corporate masters. You’ve progressed way beyond drinking the kool-aid, now you’re one of the guys holding the children hostage to get their parents to drink it.
Fuck’s sake, you’re the problem in that story.
