Damn. I forgot about the governor fighting integration. The complexity just moved beyond my narrow understanding of politics.

I dont think they would do that, it would be harder to trade wins.

That’s the point. It could have been anything the politicians and news media cooked up. They could have created a crazed religious movement, a hate filled campaign against another country, they could attack another religion … except MAGA went “fuck it” and checked “All of the Above”.
It’s not about the message. Tyranny does not thrive in peace. It is about directing the weak willed portion of the population that they have complete control over.
My group would start collecting the shit like Pokémon cards and then want to know the value of the “art objects”.
Agreed. I wonder if the Dem/Rep political parties are about to flip and trade conservative/liberal policies again.
The lib politicians did not roll over to facism, they rolled over for money … for loosely regulated and barely looked at Super PAC donations and withdrawals. They rolled over for legalized corruption. Fascism is just the gift wrap that they had to take those presents in.
This lady is kind of right. We are not likely to vote our way out of this.
Dont forget the golden parachute they get when they piss off the consumer base with several $60 games that turn out to be incomplete garbage and get themselves fired.
Wilco@lemm.eeto News@lemmy.world•White House responds to California city terminating contract with ICEEnglish4·17 hours agoI am not 100% on Waco. The ATF knows they went crazy there. I do know there were exaggerations in regards to the children as several have admitted in interviews that they were coaxed into making some statements. Im not saying all of it was made up, but I know some of it was.
Remember that Waco happened over a firearm inspection that was done by the ATF. They saw auto conversion kits on rifles that they reported as illegal … and it turns out they were NOT illegal and the ATF knew it, but raided anyway.
Things did get crazy from there. You dont declare “total war” on an fucking end of the world cult that dreams about going out in a blaze of bullets …because they are going to go out in a blaze of bullets. The ATF knew THAT as well.
I did indeed forget that part … but you know who doesn’t forget it? The police issuing tickets on a construction site that isn’t even active. Such a great point.
Wilco@lemm.eeto News@lemmy.world•White House responds to California city terminating contract with ICEEnglish91·18 hours agoI thought he was describing Waco TX … until I saw Philly. Close enough for another example.
Wilco@lemm.eeto News@lemmy.world•Trump asks the Supreme Court to neutralize the Convention Against TortureEnglish4·18 hours agoShit. That is going to work. The SCOTUS will want to suck Trumps balls a little after telling him “no” 5-6 times … to make it up to him. I bet they are going to pass this.
Nope. They dont actually start construction, they just put cones up so they can start hiring the actual construction team with the 33% pay the city/county gives them when they put those cones up. Road projects fall through an average of two times … this means your local government usually pays for 66% of a project before it is even started (often over 100% if it happens more). The money is rarely recovered.
I hope this guy or someone like him visits all those National Guard’s wives. This deployment will involve orders that should not be followed. We need the constitution amended so the national guard cannot be deployed into a state without that states governors permission.

No, I dont like it … my state should be Canadian as well.

Surety Bonds might only cover 10% of the bid cost. They can cover 100%, but usually cover less. This is where my local area seems to be getting hit. They are hiring companies from other countries and getting skipped out on once they hit a certain payment milestone.
That and the low bidder system. I am in heartland America, it is way too common here.
