I actually didn’t mind paying a monthly subscription to Sync for Lemmy, just to support the developer. He was super responsive at first and immediately fixed a comment sorting issue that I reported in his community.

Then he ghosted for a while and came back with a slew of updates. So I had hope that he would do the same again. Eventually after not being able to use Sync for a few months, I canceled my subscription. Would be glad to take it up again if he ever comes back and fixes it!

  • In 2013, the crater’s flame intensity and temperatures were at its recorded peak. At the same time, renowned Canadian explorer, George Kourounis, became the first – and only – person to enter the crater wearing a full heat-reflective Kevlar/Nomex suit and a firefighter’s Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) to provide oxygen. He descended to the 752 °F (400 °C) crater floor and retrieved soil samples. Scientists later found extremophile bacteria living in the scorched earth samples Kourounis provided.

Wtf that’s the craziest part of this story!

  • I was gonna say, this mother fucker literally pulled out of the deal that was working to keep Iran from getting nuclear weapons in the first place. This would be like if I came home drunk and shit the bed, then held a family meeting saying I am instructing everyone in the house to work towards an end to shitting in the beds.

My company, while cutting back elsewhere, has dedicated a few million to AI projects over the next couple years. Not “projects to solve X business problem.” Just projects that use AI.

So of course now, anything that is automated in any way is now being touted as AI. Taking data from one system and populating another? That’s AI.
