If abject racism is Republicans’ best criticism of Mamdani’s policies, then that bodes really well for his platform.

Sounds like the beginning of a short story by Greg Egan.
It’s so sad what happened to Fetterman… I was a huge supporter of his even before he began his Senate campaign but then he had a stroke and became a diet Republican. Fuck him
I was like you once. Had to move back in with my parents, couldn’t find a job for months on end. Floating through life without a fire in me felt like shit. Your problems aren’t trivial. Things will get better. Forgive the platitude, but despite what you believe right now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I had/have a terrible anxiety disorder (still working on it to some degree, but I’m able to control it now) that was eating my life and my happiness away. What helped me tremendously was looking inward and asking why I feel these things without indulging any thoughts that came up. Objectively analyzing each thought and feeling without judgement. Each new revelation was followed by “well, why is that true?” Your emotions aren’t there for no reason, they’re indicators of your internal state like warning lights. Asking why they’re going off will lead you to the answers you want.
From there, I accepted that my parents were straight up emotionally neglectful/abusive. I won’t delve into it for brevity, but I encourage you to objectively analyze your relationship with your parents. When I did that, I realized they were the source of my insecurities. Their constant criticism disguised as “jokes” and boundary breaking spawned that horrible anxiety disorder. Maybe your parents have done something similar?
Read The Body Keeps the Score. It echoes pretty much everything I’ve said here. The best part? It’s empirically validated, no woo-woo bullshit.
I hope this helped even a tiny bit.
Absolutely, I’m not sure who else could believably play him. Jesse Eisenberg is made for this role lol
Tankies on their way to hate private ownership and dictatorship of the bourgeoisie so much that they begin to love state ownership and dictatorship of the bureacracy
The lack of continuous and backlogged content. For some this is a benefit because it gives them a reason to stop scrolling, but for others who come here to look for answers, find entertainment, or anonymously voice their opinions, this can be something of a downside.
Of course this platform is as anonymous as you make it, but I’ve seen some people say they refrain from commenting more often because they don’t want to be known as a regular, instead wanting to “blend in to the crowd” as one would on more populous sites like Reddit or Twitter.
These shit-quality shitposts are like the spaz kid at lunchtime showing you his “meme collection” against your will. I get serious secondhand embarrassment from seeing them. It’s sad seeing Lemmy’s shitpost community devolve into 9gag/ifunny.
For real. They weren’t even funny the first time they came around in 2018. Shitposts used to be quality
I actually just had this problem a couple weeks back. I was using revanced spotify but I had to keep re-patching it because it kept breaking. Eventually, I became so frustrated I said fuck spotify and found ViTune which is a fork of ViMusic (which is now defunct).
It workes exactly how I would want a music app to work. No accounts, no algorithms, just search for the song you want. You might get a playback error if you’re using a VPN, but that’s literally the only complaint I have about it.
Love Rashomon, it was so good. Definitely make it your next watch. Pioneered ambiguous endings in movies. It gives the audience a reason to keep thinking about it after watching because it allows them the freedom to determine their own canon version of the story.
I love the idea, but wouldn’t it be one of those old web indices (like a site or book that was just a list of other sites) with a keyword search function? Like a centralized webring with user submissions?
People don’t talk about this enough. It’s one thing to be an arrogant prick with self-esteem that’s way too high, but the same thing goes for people with self-esteem that’s way too low. In either case you’re walking on eggshells around them trying to make sure you don’t say the wrong thing and send them into a temper tantrum or self-pity spiral. I have a little more sympathy for the latter, but both forms are incredibly toxic imo.
it’s just hard for some people to appreciate the good things in life. that’s valid considering the state of the world right now, but we still need to celebrate victories where they appear. overt pessimism does no good for anyone
turns out a lot of people didn’t pay attention in 6th grade social studies.
is it me or does this guy’s eyelids look upside down like one of those optical illusion pictures?
i love that the article keeps reiterating how cutting edge the methodology they used is, but used a thumbnail of some shark models imported into blender. this inadvertently implies that blender is the “cutting-edge” technology lmao
right on. this tweet is like saying “there’s not a single country in africa that starts with the letter K.” there obviously is, but it’s targeting people who are knowledgable enough to know the answer but not intelligent enough to understand the point of the tweet.
unhoused? say what it actually is. homelessness. news sites need to stop promoting the stupid euphemism treadmill, it doesn’t help anyone but themselves.
Exactly right. Prompt ““engineering”” is the same as calling the guy at Subway making a sub a “sandwich engineer.” It dilutes the value of jobs where people actually engineer things.
