  • Say what you will about Newsom, he’s a Democrat striking back by talking plainly. Maybe some Democrats will find their fucking unused spines can be used to stand up.

LOL, nah. Anyone of liberal bent is determined to strike the governor down for his sins. “Not good enough!”, they scream as they’re hauled off to the trains, unarmed, as they wished to be. Good luck you fucking pansies! (Is “pansy” still politically correct? Or did I offend .0235% of the population?)

  • I love King’s work, LOVE IT. Never read anyone who taps into what childhood was actually like so much as he does. Can’t speak to the girls, but us little boys were exactly as described. OTOH, his child characters are always a few years ahead of their time.

*The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" was a perfect example. She’s fucking 9 years old! Kids are basically retarded at that age. I have/had one of each sex. I could go on forever. King nails those childhood thoughts and actions, but he ascribes them to kids a few years shy of how they really be.

I would say that times were different for him growing up, and maybe that’s my problem. I’m old enough to be his middle-aged son. And yes, we grew up far faster than kids do now days. And reflecting on that, yeah, maybe that’s why I feel he’s out of touch? Sometimes I find social media opinions on what constitutes childhood to be way out of whack. I was fucking like Armageddon was next Tuesday when I was 17, yet lemmy tells me I was a child?

    Does that make sense?

  • Fucking weird, isn’t it? Another rant would be about where is all the advertising money coming from?! Imagining being a buyer, I’d have to wonder how well my spend would be profiting.

A couple of decades ago I played around with being a salesman. Top advice was to try this ad, try that ad, compare results. Surely these people are finding revenue from spending on these ads? It just seems impossible to me that there’s profit for all of these cockroaches.

  • There are times and places. Or, corners and doors, if you will. Best case is that relaxed rules make it easier for the citizen to determine what is legal and what is not. Was driving to our camp in the boonies yesterday. Honestly didn’t know if it was legal to have my long guns on the passenger side. Also, I have a conceal carry license which I don’t “technically” need? Gun laws are seriously weird, incomprehensible and dumb in America.

Better case, they can’t fuck with minorities, or other “undesirables”, exercising their rights. Buddy in Alabama was applying for his conceal carry, which must be approved by the county sheriff, with a photograph. “Good thing you’re a middle-aged white guy! Pass.”

Speaking of dumb, I remember when Oklahoma went open carry. Some dipshit, wannabe cowboy was rocking his 6-shooters downtown, promptly had a mugger remove them from his possession.

No idea what lemmy thinks gun nuts feel on this subject, but I can attest, the vast majority of us think open carry should be legal, and not practiced. No sane gun nut (heh) advocates open carry, except for the aforementioned door and corners. That make sense?

While we’re at it, imagine how peaceful the California protests would be if the people openly carried long guns. Time and again cops suddenly turn mushy, “Now let’s all be peaceable here folks!” Contrast that with the unarmed crowd abuse we’re seeing. To some extent, an armed society is a polite society. And I have two, very recent, anecdotes where I would have had my ass beat if I had not been visibly armed.

  • I’m old, so many may not relate. I remember when the big selling point of this newfangled “cable TV” thing was zero ads. Can you imagine that?

Yeah, I have Prime for the savings on shipping. Got the Kodi addon for watching Prime, never used it except to watch The Expanse a few years ago. Would have been fucking enraged if I had seen ads cut into that. Fuck am I paying for?!
