vala@lemmy.worldtoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•Nook to D4, Great Point I mean D3, i mean 3DEnglish38·17 hours agoYes the point is that LLMs don’t reason.
vala@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Women and men diverge more than ever on support for abortion rights, poll shows1·23 hours agoYes I spelled the word wrong. English makes no sense.
This article is super questionable.
The point is the people in power will twist things as much as needed to try to draw lines between anything BUT the working and owning class.
This is clearly an attempt to do that. We cant feed the propaganda machine.
To be clear, having discussions about misogyny and abortion is important. But I’m super hesitant to engage with anything that tries to control the conversation with some “poll shows” type bullshit.

Edit: spelling is over my head
Don’t forget the unreal tournament remake they were working on at the time too.

vala@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Apple just proved AI "reasoning" models like Claude, DeepSeek-R1, and o3-mini don't actually reason at all. They just memorize patterns really well.English01·3 days agoYesterday I asked an LLM “how much energy is stored in a grand piano?” It responded with saying there is no energy stored in a grad piano because it doesn’t have a battery.
Any reasoning human would have understood that question to be referring to the tension in the strings.
Another example is asking “does lime cause kidney stones?”. It didn’t assume I mean lime the mineral and went with lime the citrus fruit instead.
Once again a reasoning human would assume the question is about the mineral.
Ask these questions again in a slightly different way and you might get a correct answer, but it won’t be because the LLM was thinking.
