It’s not really like that. You only hear about the crazy lawsuits because they are crazy. Local lawyer used to talk about this on the radio.

You don’t dare bring frivolous shit before a judge. For one, they’ll almost always refuse to hear the case, you lose. Two, you just made an ass of yourself in front of a judge who you will being standing in front of in the future. Three, keep pulling bullshit suits and you can get disbarred.

The right to a speedy trial is a joke and on the supreme court sides with corpos or cops 9 times out of 10. District Attornies basically get to deside what LAWS are enforced and there are so many felonies that if any cop spies on anyone long enough they can send them to prison.

Libel laws and other censorship across Europe is pretty fucked. As a case in point, some of the highest instances of enforcement of anti-semitism laws in Germany are against Jews protesting for the rights of other Middle Eastern ethnicities.

And that’s not even scratching the surface of East Asia. The Philippines is straight up fascist. Thialand has some of the strictest Les Majeste laws on the books in any country. The Saudis have fully dehumanized women.

US product liability laws are pretty tame by comparison.

I am talking more the level of litigiousness and constantly erring on the side of mega corps. Sure we have better free speech laws but that doesn’t make up for the fact that people can and are held liable for injuries criminals incure while on their property attempting to rob or vandalise them.
