Everybody in my town seems to think it’s legal ever since most of the US legalised it. The smell of weed is everywhere and I’ve seen numerous people casually smoke it in the street. The police don’t seem to care, so they may as well just make it official and start reaping the tax benefits.

Edit: Just to be clear, I am in the UK.

Yea I’m in the UK and smell it all the time too. It’s kind of the worst situation for it really at the moment. Cops don’t seem to care about possession so it’s use is widespread and those who do use it aren’t bothered about changing the status quo. But the criminal gangs who cultivate it and often exploit vulnerable people to do so have a large market and don’t have to pay taxes.

Careful there buddy. The US hasn’t legalized it, only certain states have. That means you can’t travel around with it in the US even if you bought it legally.

      Canada legalized it though.

Ah yes I forgot about Canada. I tried to be unambiguous but I am in the UK, and I just meant that the people in my town seem to believe that since the laws have largely changed over there then that somehow also applies to us. Everybody’s so blasé about using it and the cops don’t care so we should just tax the stuff already.

You realise it’s legal to use cannabis in the UK with a prescription? Cannabis was rescheduled in 2018.
