And then everyone cheered and Had a great time and totally forgot once the music started playing. What they should’ve done is displayed that for two hours and refused to play.

Regardless, considering the stance the UK gov has taken statements like this are still necessary even if they aren’t as effective as they could be.

You’d be arrested and jailed for 14 years for agreeing with Palestine while in the UK.

Don’t do it. (Without a vpn)

This is simply not true. You could be jailed for openly and publicly supporting Palestine Action specifically, but you can support Palestine and speak out about genocide as much as you like.

I don’t know if that’s true. It’s illegal for an individual to arouse reasonable suspicion that they are a member or supporter of a proscribed organisation, which might include phrases or slogans associated with the group like “end the genocide” or “free Palestine”. I think you have to explicitly condemn PA to avoid that law.

Those phrases are so vague it would be hard to prove they are reasonably only associated with PA, not to mention that they predate Palestine Action even existing

Sure, but unless they explicitly condemn PA a court might find it “reasonable” to assume they are supporters. Then they have to fight it out in court and it comes down to whether the courts are going to rule in favor of the government or not. At the very least it gives law enforcement the power to search their computers and phones for PA support, so they need to have squeaky clean data hygene.

There’s a real chilling effect on all Palestinian solidarity, even if technically this should only apply to PA specifically.
