There needs to be tighter regulation, in order to feature that Maple Leaf on the packaging at all it should have to be made 51% in Canada in my opinion.

What about maple syrup? American made syrup has every right to the leaf, to represent the tree of origin.

You geese did not invent the maple tree.

Maple leaf imagery can be created without using the Canadian flag, which is a distinct minimalist interpretation of the leaf in red.

I was replying to someone who did not specify a “minimalist red maple leaf on a white background”. They said that Canada should trademark all depictions of maple leafs on all product packaging.

I was also joking. I should know by now that people on the Internet are bad at picking up my tone.

It’s not random. Source am American that reads a lot.

Noah Webster, in his efforts to standardize American English, simplified spellings by removing the “u” in words like “colour,” “honour,” and “favour”.

I spell most words the British way. But it’s gray, not grey.

“Gray” is the more common spelling in the US, “grey” is the more common spelling in the UK (and apparently Canada).

That’s what I’ve been saying for years! I’ve been told my whole life that a CEO is at the top of the company, and thus is responsible for the whole company. That’s why they deserve to earn 1000x more than their workers. But they aren’t actually responsible for shit. No CEO gets convicted if their product kills someone. Even if it turns out they stole millions from their workers, there are absolutely 0 fucking consequenses. CEO’s don’t have any responsibilty. They get their money, and if they shit the bed just enough, they’ll be fired, and then hired by the competition instead.

Want any fucking change in this world? Start charging CEOs with the crimes of the company. The product killed someone? Charge them with first degree murder. I bet every single company will start to follow the laws real fucking quick.

australia does similar, but for all country of origin claims… the key phrasing is “representations to consumers” and “false or misleading”… ie you don’t have to specifically say “made in”

this would for sure be counted as a misleading representation, and this specific packaging would likely be illegal to sell in australia because it misleadingly represents that the products is somehow from/made in canada

As far as I’m concerned you now fascist americans are not welcomed or wanted at all. Your child rapist felon president made sure of that. Funny thing, people get real pissed when some diaper filling brain dead pervert asshole pretending to be a president who is being manipulated by Thiel babbles on about taking Canada over. Go away.

I’m not exactly disagreeing. But keep in mind there are probably 120+ million people in the US who don’t want any of this. That’s 3x the entire population of Canada. I would never say numbers alone absolve anything, but you also can’t accurately say there’s universal American endorsement of this shitshow.

Hey man I’m pissed about it too. 120 million isn’t enough. 200 million probably isn’t enough. We need so many more.

But if you find yourself without allies, that’s not my fault. Europe is sliding toward fascism as well.
